Thank you for your heartfelt request. We are joined with you in spirit, praying that your mom will develop a hunger for God's Word and make it a daily part of her life.
Let's remember what the Psalmist says in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." And in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
As we pray, let's remember that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" And in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the mother of our friend. We pray that you will instill in her a desire to read and meditate on your Word daily. Let the Holy Spirit open her eyes to the truths contained therein, and may it be a lamp unto her feet and a light unto her path. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Encourage your mom to start with a small portion daily, such as a chapter or even a few verses. Let her pray that God will speak to her through His Word. Remind her that God's Word is living and active, and it will transform her life as she reads and applies it.
If your mom is not yet believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, please encourage her to read the Gospel of John. This will introduce her to Jesus, His life, His ministry, and His sacrifice for us. Remind her that Jesus is the Word become flesh, and that knowing Him is the key to eternal life, John 17:3.
