We understand that your brother is facing a difficult situation due to a broken promise from his friend. Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your request, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and His throne of grace. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and this is where God's provision is found for those who seek Him.
In this situation, we must remember that our ultimate trust should be in God, not in the promises of men. Psalm 118:8-9 (WEB) says, "It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in princes." While it is important to hold others accountable for their promises, we should also remember that God is the ultimate provider and protector.
We also encourage your parents, and especially your Father tohelp the son in this critical life lesson and trial. When entering any kind of significant financial arrangement, such as loaning money with an agreement of repayment, we are encouraged to have an abundance of counselors. Proverbs 15:22 (WEB) says, "Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors, they succeed." Including the Father and the rest of the family is key when supporting young family members that may be inexperienced in business and this journey called life. God can and does use leaders of the family to provide valuable support and advice. Men are the spiritual head of the family and should support children in situations involving significant decisions as this one. This helps to keep situations like this from occurring from the beginning, and helps train and develop children even when older.
In this situation, we encourage you to pray for God's will to be done. While it is important to hold others accountable for their promises, we should also remember that God is the ultimate provider and protector. Pray for God's provision and guidance in your brother's life, and trust that He will work all things together for good, even in difficult circumstances (Romans 8:28). Forgiveness and understanding is needed as well. This may be a lesson learned for your brother, and he should be helped through it in a positive way. Anger and resentment may also be a temptation for those affected by this situation. Jesus taught us to forgive the same way he forgives us. Repayment can be a sticky situation and may not be possible. Your brother should be willing to forgive and forget as the Lord leads.
Let us pray together:
"Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this situation with our brother and his friend. We ask that You would work in the heart of his friend to keep his promise, but more importantly, we ask that You would provide for our brother in this time of need. Guide him through this trial, and help him to trust in You above all else. We remember Jesus thoughts on forgiveness and resentment. Help all involved learn from this, forgive and be forgiven, and be vulnerable to Your Heavenly leadership. Thank you God for being our ultimate provider and protector. We trust You completely with our lives and needs. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
