We are glad to join you in prayer and to help you understand God's will for your life. It is wonderful that you are seeking love for your mom and yourself, as God commands us to honor our parents and to love others as we love ourselves. However, let us first remember that the greatest love comes from God, and it is only through a right relationship with Him that we can truly love others and ourselves in a healthy, biblical way.
Let us remind you of the words of Jesus Christ, as recorded in Matthew 22:37-39 WEB:
"Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
First, we need to ensure that we are right with God by believing in Jesus Christ. It is only through faith in Jesus that we can be saved and have eternal life. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9 WEB). So we pray for you.
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved one who seeks to love their mom and themselves more deeply. First, we pray that they would know Your loving kindness, that You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and offer us eternal life Romans 10:9. Your love is the source of all true love. Help them to be rooted and established in Your love, so that they may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Lord, we ask that You would help them to love their mother with a pure, selfless love that reflects Your character. Help them to honor and respect her, as Your Word commands in Ephesians 6:2. We also pray that You would help them to love themselves in a balanced, godly way, recognizing that they are created in Your image and have worth and value in Your sight.
Help them to love themselves not in a selfish or prideful way, but in a manner that enables them to love others more deeply. Help them to forgive themselves for any past mistakes or failures and to believe in Jesus Christ's work on the cross to reconcile us to God. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God's Word, the Bible, and to seek His will for your life. As you grow in your relationship with Him, you will find that His love flows through you to others, including your mom. Remember that God is faithful, and that He hears and answers our prayers according to His will (1 John 5:14-15 WEB).
If there is anything in your life that does not align with biblical principles, we encourage you to repent and seek God's forgiveness. He is always ready to forgive and to help us live lives that honor Him. Remember that true love is found only in Him 1 John 4:8, WEB.
