Let us begin by acknowledging that all good things come from God, and He wants us to have wholesome and meaningful friendships.
First, let us address the request directly. The desire to know more about a friend and for them to know more about us is natural and can be a positive thing, as long as it aligns with biblical principles. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (WEB) reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and does not have another to lift him up."
However, it is crucial to ensure that this friendship is honorable and pleasing to God. If this friendship is with someone of the opposite sex, we must be cautious and set boundaries to maintain purity and avoid any appearance of evil. Romans 12:10 (WEB) tells us, "Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; prefer one another in honor."
If the friendship is with someone of the same sex, we should still be mindful of our actions and intentions. Proverbs 13:20 (WEB) warns us, "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Anonymous and their friend. Lord, we ask that You guide their friendship and help them to know more about each other in a way that honors You. Give them wisdom and discernment to navigate their friendship according to Your will. Help them to set boundaries and maintain purity in their interactions.
Father, we also pray that Anonymous and their friend would draw closer to You as they grow in their friendship. May their bond be a testimony of Your love and grace. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we must remember that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 (WEB) declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If we believe in Jesus Christ and confess Him as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved and have eternal life.
If there is any indication that this friendship could lead to something that does not align with biblical principles, such as an inappropriate relationship, we must be prepared to address it and offer guidance accordingly.
We also use this opportunity to advise Anonymous to be careful in using the word 'please' in prayer requests. While it is polite in everyday conversations, it is not necessary in prayers. We should come before God with boldness and confidence, knowing that He hears us and will answer according to His will. Hebrews 4:16 (WEB) says, "Let's therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
