Let us bring your son before the throne of grace, seeking God's intervention and guidance.
Firstly, we acknowledge that God is the source of all wisdom and knowledge. As the scripture says in Proverbs 2:6, "For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding." (WEB). We pray that God would impart this wisdom and knowledge to your son as he prepares for his A level exams.
We also recognize the struggle your son is facing with distractions, namely online games. It is important to remember that we are to be good stewards of our time, as Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us, "Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." (WEB). We pray that God would give your son the strength and discipline to redeem his time and focus on his studies.
However, we must also address the underlying issue of your son's lack of motivation. While we pray for God to ignite a passion for learning in him, it is also crucial for him to understand the value of hard work and diligence. As we read in Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." (WEB).
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this son to you. Lord, we ask that you would give him the motivation and focus he needs to excel in his studies. Help him to overcome the distractions of this world and redeem the time he has been given.
We also pray that you would reveal to him the value of hard work and diligence. Help him to understand that whatever he does, he should do it heartily, as for you, and not for men.
We claim your promise in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." (WEB). We ask that you would grant him the wisdom and knowledge he needs to succeed in his exams and gain entrance to a good university.
Remind him that only by the name of Jesus that we can come to you. If he does not know Jesus then we ask that you would also reveal your love to him and draw him to a saving relationship with you we pray. We also ask that you would teach him to submit his ways to you and that by your Holy Spirit, you will guide him in all that he does.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue to support and pray for your son. Remind him of the importance of his studies and the value of hard work. Encourage him to seek God's will for his life and to trust in God's plan for his future.
