We are glad that you have reached out with your prayer request and that you acknowledge the power of praying in Jesus Christ's name. It is only through Him that we have access to God, and it is only by His name that we can be saved. Your expression of faith, love, and forgiveness, along with your desire to live a more Christ-like life, is truly encouraging.
Firstly, let us address the use of cannabis. While you mentioned using it for anxiety and meditation, we must consider what the Bible says about altering our minds. In 1 Peter 5:8, WEB, it is written, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." We are called to be sober and self-controlled, not relying on substances to manage our anxieties or facilitate our meditation.
In Romans 12:1-2, WEB, it is written, "Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we should strive to keep them pure and holy.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with anxiety and has been using cannabis. Lord, we pray that You grant them the strength and wisdom to overcome this challenge. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them.
Father, we ask that You fill their heart with Your peace and guide them in Your truth. We pray also that You would heal and show a way to not need cannabis, or any other substance, as a means to cope with anxiety or to meditate on Your Word. Help them to walk in the light of Your Word. We ask that you would be able to deliver them from this bondage.
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the love, faith, and forgiveness You have already taught them. Continue to transform their mind and heart, making them more like You.
In Jesus Christ's powerful name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God promises us that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9, WEB) Trust in His grace and His desire to bring you fully into His will.
