On Febuary 1, 2021 a military coup swepth the country of Myanmar. The year since has been a life-and-death struggle for believers there. Listen to the accounts of brothers and sisters in Myanmar.
Daisy - The situation is horrific and life is getting more and more grim for the people in Myanmar. The believers, in fact all of the civilians in Myanmar, are living in fear. The believers are traumatised by what has been happening. Christians are targeted everywhere in the country and more so in the areas where they live in majority.
We have so many young believers hiding in jungles to prevent soldiers from taking them. And thousands of Christian families have run away to different locations in the hope of some security. However they have no idea how they will fend for themselves and their families somewhere else.
The believers have become very vunerable, However we also have faith that God is capable of restoring to us double of all the blessings we have lost.
Please lift up the 1 million people who are displaced within Myanmar without homes, provisions, protection or a way to make a living. Ask God to use whatever means necessary to bring them what they need and make it possible for them to return home.
Brother Lwin. we anticipate that Christians will be targeted as the military leaders enforce the concept, "to be Burmese is to be Buddhist." The violence and atrocity towards the Christians is inhumane.
The civil war could be a good opportunity to uproot the Christians from their lives. It is subtle moves, shrouded by the violence of the civil war, creating/promoting a path for Buddistization of the Christians in Myanmar.
Pray for the Christian children in Myanmar who have known little but war in their short lives. Pray the Holy Spirit will protect the seed God has placed in their hearts, and their faith in Jesus will remain strong despite any attempts to bring them to Buddhism.
Michael, an Open Doors partner: Since many families fled in haste they were not able to bring their clothes, blankets and utensils along with them. There are so many children among them. By God's grace we were able to reach out for them and provide blankets. I am so happy these blankets and warm clothes have brought some comfort to them. They have lost their houses and daily lives. this is the least we can do for them.
I was moved to tears when one man who received what we brought said, "We thought everyone had forgotten us but these blankets and warm clothes have reminded us that there are still people out there who care for us, pray with us and work to support us."
Thank God for local partners who risk arrest and worse in order to bring persecuted believers simple, yet vital, supplies. Pray that His presence will warm their hearts as the blankets keep them from the cold.
