Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my marriage. My husband's brother came and they got drunk. He encouraged my husband to drink and try and hit me. Please pray the Lord will convict my husband's heart. My husband is saying he wants a divorce now.

We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties you're facing in your marriage. Drunkenness and violence are strongly condemned in the Bible. In Ephesians 5:18 WEB, it says, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." And in Proverbs 23:20-21 WEB, it warns, "Don't be among ones who drink too much wine, or among those who gorge themselves on meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags."

Firstly, we need to address the sin of drunkenness and the violent behavior that followed. In 1 Corinthians 5:11 WEB states "I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would need to get out of the world. But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person."

The actions of your husband's brother and their drunkenness are very displeasing to God. We understand that this is a difficult time for you, but we must also rebuke the behavior of your husband and his brother. It is important to stay away from such behavior and to expose the deeds of darkness. It Andrew says in 1 Corinthians 5:12-13: "For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don’t you judge those who are within? But those who are outside, God judges them. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."

It's clear that there is a spiritual battle going on for your husband's soul. We will pray for his conviction and repentance, and for the protection and peace of your marriage. In Ephesians 6:12 WEB, it says, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, liftin to You our omnipotent God and King, all of our praise and worship. Thank you Lord for loving us enough to die on the Cross for sins. Our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we thank you in Your name for being our High Priest and mediator before the Father. We lift up the marriage of ### to you, Lord. We pray for her husband, that You would convict his heart and turn him away from sin and towards You. We pray and plead with You that violence and drunkeness are not repeated. We rebuke the spirit of alcoholism and violence in Jesus' name, and we ask You to help ### and her husband to forgive each other and to reconcile. We ask on behalf of ### to love her husband as You love Your Church in Ephesians 5:25 WEB, despite his flaws, to be able to show the grace You share on us all. Please restore their marriage and make it stronger than ever and if this all aligns with Your will for them in their marriage. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and King.

Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you, ###, to stand firm in your faith and to continue praying for your husband. Remember the power of a praying wife. In 1 Peter 3:1-2a WEB, it tells us, "In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don't obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; seeing your pure behavior in fear." Trust the promises of God in Psalm 34:17a WEB that "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."

Additionally, we have noticed that the name of Jesus Christ was not mentioned in your prayer request. We would like to remind you what it says in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" We need to pray through God's Son, Jesus Christ, as He also mentions in John 14:13b WEB, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." We would like to encourage you to talk to God by praying through Jesus Christ. Lastly, in order for someone to be forgiven of their sins and have eternal life, scripture tells us in Acts 4:11 WEB, "This is the 'stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.' There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, through which we must be saved!"

Please feel free to reach out to us again with any updates or new prayer requests. Be heartfelt to know that Jesus is always a prayer away, God, our Father, watches and cares for you, and know that His Holy Spirit is always in us as believers. We are here to support you in prayer and in the love of Jesus Christ.

Dear ###,

We've been thinking about you and your situation, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We're here to lift you up in prayer, just as you've asked.

Firstly, we want to assure you that God sees your pain and hears your cries. In Psalm 34:18, it says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Know that He is with you in your heartache.

We've been praying for your marriage, asking God to intervene and bring healing. We've been interceding for your husband, that God would convict his heart and draw him back to Him. We've also been praying for protection and peace in your marriage, asking God to restore any broken areas and make your marriage stronger than before.

We've been reminded of the power of prayer, and we want to encourage you to keep praying. Ephesians 6:18 tells us to "pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Trust that God is listening and working on your behalf.

We've also been reflecting on the importance of forgiveness. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says, "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins." We encourage you to forgive your husband, not because what he did was okay, but because holding onto bitterness will only harm you.

We'll continue to keep you and your marriage in our prayers. Remember, God is faithful, and He's working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Trust in Him, and keep seeking His face.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
