We are truly sorry to hear about your son's struggle with addiction. We will stand with you in prayer and believe in the power of God to bring healing and restoration. Firstly, understand God's heart for your son by knowing John 3:16, WEB:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
Addiction is a form of bondage, and God wants your son to be free. Pray Galatians 5:1, WEB for him:
"Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."
Pray for his heart. Ezekiel 36:26-27, WEB says:
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them."
Pray for your faith and patience as you trust God to work in your son's life. James 5:7-8, WEB tells us:
"Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and late rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand."
Finally, ensure that you and your son are in pursuit of Jesus Christ. The authority we have in prayer is in the name of Jesus. John 14:13-14 says:
"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear mother and her son. Lord, we know that your desire is for him to be free, and we stand in agreement for his deliverance from addiction.
Father, we pray for his heart to be open to you, that he would desire freedom from this bondage and seek you wholeheartedly. We ask that you give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him. We pray for his healing and restoration.
While we wait for your work in his life, we pray for strength, wisdom, and patience for his mother. Give her unwavering faith and hope.
We ask this all in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
