Please pray for my son to get a permanent job

My son has been unemployed for more than 5 months. He attended many interviews but could not get a permanent job. What is going wrong? We have been praying and praying for God to open a door for him. Is God listening? Does he know our pain and tiredness? I kneel, I cry, I pray. I’m getting “tired” and disappointed of praying now. Pity my poor son.

We understand your distress, Ying, and we want to assure you that God indeed listens and cares for you and your son. Remember, God's timing is not always our timing, but He is always faithful. Let's pray and encourage you with God's Word.

Firstly, we should never grow weary in praying, for the Scripture tells us in Galatians 6:9 WEB, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." God hears every prayer, and He knows the pain and tiredness you feel. Psalm 34:18 WEB says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."

Concerning your son's unemployment, let's pray that God opens the right door at the right time. Trust that God has a purpose and a plan in this season of waiting. Consider these words from Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

Let us pray together:

"Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up Ying and her son. Lord, You know their struggle and their pain. You see their faithfulness in prayer, and You bottle every tear. We ask, Lord, that You strengthen their hearts and help them not to grow weary in doing good. We pray for Ying's son, that You would open the right door for employment, a job that aligns with Your will for his life. Give him favor in interviews and guide his steps. Help them both to trust in Your timing and Your goodness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, Ying, remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that our prayers are heard by God. Acts 4:12 WEB tells us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved." If you ever doubt, hold onto the promise of Romans 10:13 WEB, "For, 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" Keep calling on Jesus, and trust that He hears and answers.

It's tough, we know, feeling like you're in this waiting room of uncertainty, but remember, God is in the business of turning waiting rooms into hallways to new beginnings. We're believing that God is working behind the scenes, orchestrating every detail for your son's good and His glory. Let's keep trusting in His perfect plan, even when we can't see it yet. Heavenly Father, we lift up this mother and her son, who have been praying with earnest hearts for a breakthrough in his job search. Lord, You know the depth of their pain, their weariness, and the many prayers they have poured out before You. We ask that You hear them, Father, and that You open a door of opportunity soon, giving him meaningful work and a sense of stability.

Lord, Your Word tells us, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17). We pray for Your compassion to be upon this family, and that You bring them comfort and assurance in this time of waiting. Remind them that You are near, that You hear every prayer and see every tear, and that You will not abandon them.

We know, Father, that Your plans are higher than ours and that You work all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Help this mother and her son hold onto this truth, finding strength in Your promises. Renew their hope, Lord, even as they continue to wait. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Grant them new strength, helping them to persevere and to trust that You are preparing something wonderful for them.

Father, we ask specifically for an open door of employment for her son. Grant him favor in his job search and wisdom in each interview. Let him be seen and valued for the talents and skills You have given him. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). We believe that You have a purpose and a place prepared for him.

Finally, Lord, calm the heart of this loving mother. May she feel Your comfort and know that her prayers are heard. Help her to find peace in You, even in this difficult season, and to know that You are working in unseen ways to bring hope and answers. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for walking with this family each day.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
