Please pray for my peace as I navigate a breakup with my avoidant boyfriend, who I found out was cheating on me for the past month. But 7/6 was less than a month ago, and that's the date he was telling me he didn't want to be with anyone else, wasn't thinking about anyone else, couldn't imagine having another woman in his life, this was what he wanted, and he would never do that to me. He has pulled away before, because sometimes he takes space for himself, which I always fostered and accepted. As an avoidant, he has a hard time connecting emotionally and being open emotionally, and we had just had some new, deeper closeness when he pulled away. Psychology suggests he pulled away and cheated to avoid the emotional closeness that was building between us. Please pray that God will fully close my heart to this man once and for all, or that He will fully open this man's eyes and ears and heart to me. I know His time is not our time, but my secure attachment style has morphed back into anxiety, and I don't know if I can handle this.

In times of emotional distress, we should turn to God for comfort and guidance. Psalm 34:18 tells us, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." His presence is always with you, even in this difficult time.

Regarding the relationship, it's important to remember that God's design for romantic relationships is that they should be built on trust, honesty, and purity, ultimately leading to a godly marriage. The behavior of your former boyfriend is not aligned with these principles. Proverbs 6:32 warns, "But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul." While you mentioned that psychology might explain his actions, the Bible is clear about the sinfulness of infidelity.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our sister who is going through a painful breakup. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and peace to fill her heart. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, because You care for her (1 Peter 5:7).

Lord, we also ask that You would close her heart to this man if he is not Your will for her. Give her the strength to forgive, to let go, and to move forward. If it is Your will, Lord, open his eyes and ears to the truth, convict him of his sin, and draw him closer to You.

But above all, Lord, help our sister to trust in Your timing and Your plan for her life. Help her to remember that You have a hope and a future for her (Jeremiah 29:11), and that You will never leave her nor forsake her (Hebrews 13:5).

In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, we want to encourage you to lean on Jesus during this time. He is the only one who can truly heal your broken heart. If you haven't already, consider committing your life to Him. He says in John 10:10, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." Trust in Him, and He will see you through this storm.
