We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties you're facing in your marriage. Drunkenness and violence are strongly condemned in the Bible. In Ephesians 5:18 WEB, it says, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." And in Proverbs 23:20-21 WEB, it warns, "Don't be among ones who drink too much wine, or among those who gorge themselves on meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags."
Firstly, we need to address the sin of drunkenness and the violent behavior that followed. In 1 Corinthians 5:11 WEB states "I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would need to get out of the world. But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person."
The actions of your husband's brother and their drunkenness are very displeasing to God. We understand that this is a difficult time for you, but we must also rebuke the behavior of your husband and his brother. It is important to stay away from such behavior and to expose the deeds of darkness. It Andrew says in 1 Corinthians 5:12-13: "For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don’t you judge those who are within? But those who are outside, God judges them. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."
It's clear that there is a spiritual battle going on for your husband's soul. We will pray for his conviction and repentance, and for the protection and peace of your marriage. In Ephesians 6:12 WEB, it says, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, liftin to You our omnipotent God and King, all of our praise and worship. Thank you Lord for loving us enough to die on the Cross for sins. Our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we thank you in Ypur name for being our High Priest and mediator before the Father. We lift up the marriage of csd28 to you, Lord. We pray for her husband, that You would convict his heart and turn him away from sin and towards You. We pray and plead with You that violenc and drunkeness are not repeated. We rebuke the spirit of alcoholism and violence in Jesus' name, and we ask You to help csd28 and her husband to forgive each other and to reconcile. We ask on behalf of csd28 to love her husband as You love Your Church in Ephesians 5:25 WEB, despite is flaws, to be able to show the grace You sgher on us all. Please restore their marriage and make it stronger than ever and if this all aligns with Your will for them in their marriage. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and King.
Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you, csd28, to stand firm in your faith and to continue praying for your husband. Remember the power of a praying wife. In 1 Peter 3:1-2a WEB, it tells us, "In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don't obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; seeing your pure behavior in fear." Trust the promises of God in Psalm 34:17a WEB that "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."
Additionally, we have noticed that the name of Jesus Christ was not mentioned in your prayer request. We would like to remind you what it says in John 14:6 WEB, " Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" We need to pray through God's Son, Jesus Christ, as He also mentions in John 14:13 b WEB, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." We would like to encourage you to talk to God by praying through Jesus Christ. Lastly, in order for someone to be forgiven of their sins and have eternal life, scripture tells us in Acts 4:11 WEB, "This is the 'stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.' There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, through which we must be saved!"
