We are with you in spirit, Themack, and we are lifting up your husband in prayer. Addiction and discouragement are powerful foes, but we take heart in the power of Jesus' name and the promises of God's Word.
Firstly, we are reminded of 1 Corinthians 10:13 (WEB), "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." God is faithful, and He will provide a way out of this struggle.
We pray, "Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, pleading for Themack's husband. Lord, You know his struggles and his heart. We ask that You strengthen him in his walk with You. Help him to resist the temptations that come his way, and give him the courage to take the way of escape that You always provide. Encourage his heart, Lord, and help him to fix his eyes on You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage your husband to daily put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:10-18. It is only through God's strength and protection that we can stand against the schemes of the devil. Remind him that his struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
Lastly, we urge you both to be open about this struggle with your church community. Galatians 6:2 (WEB) tells us to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." There is no shame in seeking help from fellow believers. Remember, God is with you both in this journey, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
