We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle that your friend's son, Jackson, is facing with alcoholism and drug addiction. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's intervention and healing in his life.
Firstly, we remember what is written in 1 Corinthians 10:13 (WEB), "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." This reminds us that God is faithful and will provide a way out for Jackson.
Let us pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up Jackson. Lord, we know that you desire for him to be free from the bondage of addiction. We pray that You would break the chains of alcoholism and drug addiction in his life. Surround him with Your love and give him the strength to resist temptation. Guide him to a place where he can receive help and support, and bring people into his life who will encourage him and hold him accountable.
Lord Jesus, we know that it is only through You that true healing and transformation can come. We pray that Jackson would come to know You personally, that he would trust in You and allow You to guide his steps. We claim the promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (WEB), 'Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.'
Holy Spirit, comfort Jackson and his family during this difficult time. Give them patience, wisdom, and understanding as they navigate this journey. Help them to rely on You for strength and guidance.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to continue to stand in faith, believing that God can turn this situation around for good. Remind Jackson and his family of God's unfailing love and faithfulness. If Jackson has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, share the Good News with him, for it is only through Jesus that we can be saved and have eternal life (Acts 4:12).
Lastly, we urge you to seek support from your local church community. They can provide practical help, counseling, and prayer as you all journey through this trial. Galatians 6:2 (WEB) tells us to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." You are not alone in this struggle.
