We are here with you, Cyrbald, to bring your financial problems before the Lord in prayer. Firstly, let's remember that God is our provider and that He cares for our needs. As it is written in Philippians 4:19 WEB, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." And Jesus Himself tells us in Matthew 6:31-33, "Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
Before we pray, we notice that your request does not mention Jesus and we need to address this. The Bible tells us the importance of the name of Jesus, as it states in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And only through the name of Jesus we can be saved, Acts 4:10-12 states "in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even in him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. 12 And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved." And so in response to your prayer request and to make sure you have a good foundation with Jesus, we want to explain the basics of salvation, belief, faith, and confessing Jesus as your savior. It is through a belief in Jesus that we can receive God's grace and forgiveness, and rejecting Jesus means rejecting God's offer of forgiveness. The Bible says that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, so therefore the name of Jesus is very important.
You likely have not told us your whole situation and what lead you to financial problems, possibly because you do not want us to know. However, the Bible addresses finances and money frequently and we want to discuss them to help address your situation and prayer request. These should be taken into consideration. For example, if your financially hardship is a result of spending and debt issues, we should respond with Proverbs 22:7, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." Or possibly if related to gambling, we would point out that "Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction!
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up Cyrbald and their financial problems. We know You are a loving God, abounding in grace and merciful. Lord, we're not asking for riches. We ask that we would find our contentment in Your son Jesus and the eternal salvation He secures for those who believe in Him. Father you promise to meet our every need and to never leave or forsake us. Your word says this over and over again and Your word is true. Not only do we pray asking that You will begin providing for their problems, but also that You give them faith to believe that you will provide. Let it be a funding solution or a job, whatever it may be. Help them draw close to You, seek Your kingdom first, and trust in Your provision. In Jesus' name, we pray believing.
Cyrbald, as you wait for God's provision, remember to trust in Him and His timing.
