We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you are facing with your husband's alcoholism and its impact on your marriage and family. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's intervention and healing in this situation.
Firstly, we commend you for praying in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. It is only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace and can receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need, as we read in Hebrews 4:16 WEB: "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
We also remember 1 Peter 5:7 WEB, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." We encourage you to continue casting all your worries on Jesus, trusting that He cares for you and your family.
Regarding your husband's alcoholism, we know that God desires for him to be free from this bondage. 1 Corinthians 6:12 WEB reminds us, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything." Alcoholism is a form of bondage, and God wants your husband to be free from it.
We pray that your husband would turn to God in his weakness, for God's word tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 WEB, "He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong."
We also pray for your husband's physical healing. In Mark 5:34 WEB, Jesus said to a woman with an issue of blood, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease." We pray that your husband's faith would be strengthened, and that he would be cured of his ailments.
Lastly, we pray for your marriage and family relationships. In Ephesians 5:25-26 WEB, husbands are commanded to "love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word." We pray that your husband would be convicted by God's word and love you as Christ loves the church.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister and her husband. Lord, we ask for Your healing power to touch his body, specifically his nerve damage, spinal stenosis, and torn ligaments. We also pray for Your deliverance from alcoholism, that You would set him free from this bondage and restore his relationships with his wife and children.
Lord, we ask that You would strengthen his faith and draw him closer to You. Convict his heart and turn him towards You, that he may love his wife as Christ loves the church. We also pray for our sister, that You would continue to give her the strength and grace she needs to endure this trial. Comfort her and guide her as she navigates this difficult situation.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
