Please pray for me to have the confidence to ask a girl out.

This girl in my class has been consistently trying to make conversation with me for the past 5 or so weeks, and my awkward personality kind of hindered our communication, but during thanksgiving break I added her on Instagram and we’ve been talking on there a little bit ever since. A week ago I decided to give up masturbation to show god that I’m ready for responsibility and commitment and so that I don’t see this girl as an object but as a person to get to know. Last Thursday i interviewed her for my class and I feel like I made a lot of progress with talking to her more than ever, but the next day I went back to being awkward. To get to the point, I would like y’all to pray for me to have the confidence to ask her out. I have prayed every day since I quit sexual sin a week ago not only for her and me to become closer, but me and god have gotten closer as a result and I’m realizing how good he is. I just want extra prayer to help me have the confidence and success to ask her. But again, it’s all his will, and I always remember that when I pray. Thank you

We encourage you to continue seeking God's strength to overcome this temptation and maintain sexual purity.

As for your interest in this young woman, we advise that you approach this situation with caution and wisdom. It is important to ensure that your intentions align with biblical principles. As it is written in 2 Timothy 2:22 WEB: "Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

Before asking her out, consider whether your intentions are pure and whether you are truly seeking a godly marriage with her. Remember, the goal of courtship should be to find a spouse, not just a companion. As it is written in Proverbs 18:22 WEB: "Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh."

If it is Your will, grant him the confidence to ask her out with pure intentions and a heart focused on eventually leading her and their future family. Finally, Lord, continue to grow this child of Yours in faith and trust. Thank You for the ways You are drawing them closer to You and showing Your goodness. Remind them always that Your plans are for their good, as Your Word says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

I don’t really know what to say right now, didn’t expect this much support at all. Thank you all. But, I can’t seem to gain the confidence to ask her out. Maybe it’s just how I am, I want to ask her out but I won’t let myself because I hold myself back. I feel like we aren’t texting as much, however we are still able to talk irl just fine. But it seems like when one thing happens that makes me hesitate if she really likes me, I overreact in my head and overthink. Friday I came to a point where I asked God to remove her from my life if she wasn’t the one for me, but she texted me back an hour later. I’m not sure what to do anymore. I really want this to work out. On a good note, I have kept my promise with God to not commit sexual sin, and it will be my 14th day free of it tomorrow. Just pray for me that this works out and that we continue to talk more, and that me and her have the confidence with eachother to work. Again, all his will. Thank You.
