We are lifting up this lady and her son to the Lord in prayer, trusting that He will provide for their needs and show them His mercy and grace. We pray that God will touch the hearts of those around them to offer practical help and support, not with judgment, but with the compassion that Jesus modeled for us.
Let us remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:1-2 WEB: "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you." We must be careful not to judge others, as we do not know their circumstances or the path that led them to their current situation. Instead, we should extend love and kindness, knowing that we are all in need of God's grace.
We also recall the words of James 2:15-17 WEB:"If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you tells them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled'; but you don't give them the things which the body needs, what good is it? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself." As believers, we are called to put our faith into action by helping those in need, not just offering empty words.
In response to the request, we are concerned about the parenting situation of the woman and her son. God designed the family for a mother and a father to raise children. God created sex for exclusively male female relationships for reproduction and society raised in the fear of the Lord. Since no father is present, it is not only a economic issue, but an underlying spiritual issue not living according to God's plan. We pray that the woman and her son will not only come out of poverty, but that the Godly plan for the family will come to fruition.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this lady and her son. We ask that You would provide for their needs, not just financially, but also spiritually and emotionally. Help to put their lives on Your path and to keep them out of poverty and lack of Godliness. We pray that Your people will be moved with compassion to help them, offering practical support and encouragement. We ask that You would convict our hearts if we are tempted to judge others, reminding us of our own need for grace. We pray by the name of Jesus as mentioned in the request.
We also are mindful of the issues that are prevalent in society such as sex outside marriage, financial hardships, and divorce and separation that leads to broken families. It is easy for those to become helpless and hopeless in this world and that cannot help those who do not have good motives. It is only by God's mercy can such situations not prevail. We are thankful for that.
We also mention that although your request mentions Jesus, please be more direct in appealing to Jesus. Recall the words found in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'
Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior as the only way to the Father.
Lastly, we comment that this is a problem of government. They should not only tax people for the poor, but encourage Godliness in the land. Let the people to publicly be in prayer for the land and the leaders. "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence." 1 Timothy 2:1-2 WEB. Only by godliness can government have wealth beyond reckoning and that will help those in need.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
