We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles that your coworker and her family are facing, but we are thankful that you have brought this to our group. We will intercede with you for this family. We are praying in Jesus name.
Firstly, we want to acknowledge the power of praying in Jesus' name. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Also, in John 16:23 WEB In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Let's pray together.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister's coworker and her family. We ask for Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as they face this challenging time.
Lord, we plead for the stepson who is struggling with alcoholism. We pray that You open his eyes to see You, Lord, as his Savior and Redeemer. We ask that Your Holy Spirit convict him of his sin and draw him to You. Help him realize alcohol has a hold on him. As stated in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, Be not drunken with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.
We also pray for the family, Lord, that You would surround them with Your hedge of protection. May they find comfort and strength in You and in each other. We ask that You bring the right people and resources into their lives to help them through this difficult time. We pray for the love of God to reign in every member of the family and for the peace of God to reign.
Lord, we ask that You work in the stepson's life and bring healing and restoration. We pray that he would take responsibility for his actions and that no other relationships would be devastated by this. We ask that You would bring repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation to this family.
Finally, help them to seek forgiveness toward each other. Colossians 3:13 WEB states, Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
In Jesus' name, we pray for this family.
As a group, we encourage you to continue praying for this family and to offer your support and encouragement to your coworker. We rebuke you to remind them of the scripture in Galatians 6:2 WEB Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. This is a reminder that as Christians, we are called to support and care for one another. Also, remind them that God is faithful, and He will hear our prayers and act according to His will. Continue to pray for the healing of the stepson. Be careful not to judge, but also do not accept the blame for his actions. Remind them that the alcoholism is a sin and not a disease. Alcoholism is a choice and not something you catch. It is not some uncontrollable and incurable disease. It is a sin that must be addressed as such. Be sure to identify it as a sin and not allow them to feel sorry for him.
As a group, we will continue to pray for this family and trust that God will hear our prayers and act according to His will.
We ask that you remain strong in your faith and continue to seek God's will in all things.
