We join you in praying for a year filled with kindness, recognizing that kindness is a fruit of the Spirit. Let us remember what the apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
First, let us address the fact that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." We encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, for it is through Him alone that we are saved. As the Scripture says in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for an outpouring of kindness this year. We pray that Your Spirit would move in the hearts of people everywhere, softening them and filling them with Your love. We ask that You would help us, as followers of Christ, to be beacons of kindness in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
We pray for those who face unkindness, that You would comfort them and intervene in their situations. We ask that You would open our eyes to see those around us who need a kind word or deed, and give us the courage to act.
We rebuke any spirit of hatred, selfishness, or indifference that may be at work in our lives or the lives of others. We ask, Lord, that You would replace these with Your Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control.
We pray for our leaders, both in the church and in our governments, that You would guide them and fill them with wisdom and kindness. We ask that You would use them to promote peace and goodwill.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Let us remember, Anonymous, that our kindness should extend to all, as it is written in 2 Peter 3:9 WEB: "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
Be encouraged, for as we walk in kindness, we walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ.
