We are so glad to join with you in prayer for your cousins, that they would start reading the Holy Bible. Reading the Bible is essential for spiritual growth. It is through reading the Bible that faith comes (Romans 10:17 WEB). It is also through the Bible that we are equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17 WEB).
The Bible is our source of direction for how to live in this world, it is our source of encouragement, and it is our source of hope (Psalm 119:105, WEB).
It is important to note that reading the Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to know God and the provision He gave by sending His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. In fact Jesus said "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me." (John 5:39 WEB). Reading the Bible without having a relationship with Jesus Christ is not enough.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the cousins of the one who submitted this request. We pray that each one of them would have a divine encounter with You through Your Word. Give them a hunger and thirst for Your Word, and reveal Yourself to them as they read. Open their hearts so Your Word can penetrate deep within, changing and transforming them. Bring them into a right relationship with Jesus Christ and give them a desire to follow Him all the days of their lives. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help them to understand and apply Your Word in their lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to also share your testimony and the change that the Bible has brought into your life. This can inspire them to also desire to spend time in the Word. Do not be discouraged if the change is not immediate, continue to pray for them, trusting that God's Word does not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11 WEB).
Never underestimate the power of prayer and the amazing things God can do with His Word.
