Let us join together in praying for your cousins, that God would instill in them a hunger and thirst for His Word. It is so important that they recognize the value of reading the Bible daily, for it is the primary way God speaks to His children.
(WEB)2 Timothy 3:16-17
16
Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness,
17
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
As they read the Bible, pray that the Holy Spirit would open their hearts and minds to understand and apply its teachings. May the Word of God become a lamp unto their feet and a light unto their path. Some of your cousins may not be believers in Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can understand the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God, not just a book of wisdom to live by or better oneself. Not all wisdom is the wisdom of God.
Matthew 7:21-23
21
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22
Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?'
23
Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'
We must believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and believe in the gospel. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and our death, burial, and resurrection in Him. Do your cousins believe in the gospel? Do they believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?
Romans 10:8-13
8
But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;" that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
9
that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11
For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed."
12
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.
13
For, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up the cousins of our fellow believer. We ask, Lord, that You would place a desire in their hearts to read Your Word daily. May they see the Bible as a love letter from You, a guide for their lives, and the ultimate source of truth.
We pray that as they read the Bible, the Holy Spirit would reveal to them the riches of Your glory and the depth of Your love. May they come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and may their lives be transformed by the renewing of their minds.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
