We are glad to hear that you are surrounding yourself with fellow believers in Jesus. It is important to discern and pray for wisdom when others are influencing our beliefs and decisions. Let us first address the issue of who we pray to. In order to have access to God, we have to go through Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son. We cannot pray to Mary, angels, or saints for access to God. Furthermore, we must believe in Jesus in that he is God and died for our sins to go to Heaven.
The Bible tells us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. We should be cautious when others try to influence our beliefs and actions, even if they claim to believe in Jesus. Let us pray for you and your situation, and provide some biblical guidance.
Firstly, let us address the influence of others on our beliefs. The Bible tells us:
Beware that you are not carried away with the error of the wicked. Let us not look to wind, nor after many things, and not be apostates.
Let no one deceive you with empty words. It is because of these that God's wrath is coming on the children of disobedience. Therefore, do not be partners with them.
We see that we should not be carried away with the error of the wicked, nor look to many things, nor be deceived by empty words. We should not be partners with those who are disobedient to God.
Now, let us address the certain thing that they want you to do. The Bible tells us:
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
We see that not everything that is lawful is expedient or beneficial. We should not be brought under the power of anything, including the influence of others.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, thanking You for the fellowship of believers that You have placed in our lives. We pray for our fellow believer who has submitted this request, and we ask that You grant them wisdom and discernment as they navigate this situation. Help them to test the spirits, and to discern whether these influences are from You or not. Give them the strength to stand firm in their faith, and to not be carried away by the error of the wicked. Guide them in the way they should go, and help them to make decisions that are pleasing to You. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful, as your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Stand firm in your faith and in the faith of Jesus Christ who saves us from our sins. If you get any red flags, it is better to feel uncomfortable now, than to feel guilt later. Seek Jesus and know he will lead you to eternal life.
Prayer Focus: God, Thank You. Thank You for loving me. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. Bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.
