We understand your desire to feel confident and secure in your appearance, especially in photographs and videos. However, we want to remind you that true beauty comes from the heart, as stated in 1 Peter 3:3-4 WEB: "Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing; but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious."
We must also address that the desire for physical beauty and approval from others should not become an idol in our lives. Remember the words of Romans 1:25 WEB: "who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen." Our focus should be on worshiping God, not on gaining the approval of others or even ourselves based on outward appearance.
Let's pray for a right perspective and true inner beauty:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in Jesus' name to lift up this dear one who is struggling with insecurities about their appearance in photographs and videos. We ask that you help them to see their true beauty and worth in your eyes. Help them to focus on cultivating a gentle and quiet spirit that is precious to you, rather than on outward adornment. We pray for a heart that is fully committed to you, worshiping you alone. We ask that you help them to overcome any disappointments or insecurities they may feel. We pray that you will help them be content with their appearance and help them to use it to glorify you.
We pray for deliverance from the constant need for approval based on outward appearance. We pray that any idolatry in this area be revealed and repented for. We pray that you will fill them with your love and help them to love others as you do. Help them to focus on the fruit of the spirit rather than outer appearance. We ask that you help them to be a positive influence on others. We pray that you will help them to be a light in this world, drawing others to you. We pray that they will engage in friendship with others with the intent of building one another up in the faith and encouraging one another to walk in God's will. Help them to pursue marriage with another Christian Believer and not just a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship.
Help them to seek your will in all things, including their appearance. Help them to be a good steward of their body, treating it as your temple. Help them to make wise decisions about their appearance that honor you. We pray that they will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of their mind. We pray that they will live a life that is pleasing to you. We pray that they will be a blessing to others and be blessed in return.
We pray that they will come to know you better and love you more. We pray that they will be filled with your joy, peace, and hope. We pray that they will be confident in your love for them and in their identity in you. We pray that they will be bold in their faith and share your love with others. We pray that they will be a powerful witness for you and that many will come to know you through their testimony.
We ask all of this in Jesus' name, for it is by His name alone that we are saved and have access to God. We thank you for your love and faithfulness. We thank you that You desire for all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. We thank you that You are a God of hope and healing. We thank you that You are a God of mercy and grace. We thank you that You are a God of love and forgiveness. We thank you that You are a God of justice and righteousness. We thank you that You are a God of peace and joy. We thank you that You are a God of wisdom and understanding. We thank you that You are a God of power and strength. We thank you that You are a God of compassion and kindness. We thank you that You are a God of faithfulness and truth. We thank you that You are a God of grace and goodness. Amen.
