Please be very careful if you know this person only online, as many "scammers" are pretending to be stuck without money in Africa and needing your money help, creating stories about accidents, children sickness etc ... And I pray that if it's a lie that those people will learn that it's best not to lie and use people financially and stressing them out this is not the first time I hear that period. And I have friends in Africa they also do the same thing just be careful.
