We understand your heartache and your desire for reconciliation, and we commend you for seeking the Lord's help and guidance. It is only in Jesus name that we have access to God. We are also thankful that you have found sobriety through the 12 step program. First, we must be reminded of the power of forgiveness and redemption. The Bible tells us, For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Hebrews 8:12 WEB.
However, we must also address the nature of your relationship. The Bible teaches us to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB. We must encourage you to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles, and that includes seeking a godly spouse in marriage and abstaining from sexual immorality and living together before marriage.
Moreover, we should trust in God's timing and plan. It is important to remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB. If this woman is truly meant for you, trust that God can restore and redeem. But also be open to God's will, as He might have another path for you.
Seek God with all your heart and lean on Him for understanding. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you, lifting up our brother who seeks your miracle in his life. We thank you for the work you have done in his life, bringing him out of addiction and into sobriety. We ask for your forgiveness for any mistakes made in the past and for your redemption and restoration.
Lord, we pray for your will to be done in his life and in the life of his former girlfriend. If it is your will, we pray for a miracle of reconciliation and restoration. However, we also ask that he may fully submit to your will and trust in your timing. Help him to seek you first and to live a life that honors you.
Guide him in your truth, for you are the only one capable of miracles. Give him strength and patience as he waits on you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, and continue to trust in the Lord. He is faithful and just and able to do more than we can ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20 WEB.
