Friends, on March 26, eight Christians were abducted while traveling on a bus to a church program in the Kaduna State in northern Nigeria. According to a report by the Christian Post they were travelling to prepare for the church's Easter program when gunmen stopped the bus and took them away in another vehicle. Their pastor told media his ministry is working with the security agencies to secure their release.
It appears that the kidnapping may have been an opportunistic attack by the so-called bandits plaguing northern Nigeria. There is some increasng evidence that is some cases there may be collaboration between bandits and the Islamic radical group Boko Haram. Boko Haram has run rampant in northern Nigeria, and its involement in kidnapping would be a worrying trend for believers in Nigeria.
The constant risk that all people face in northern Nigeria makes ministry extremely difficult.
pray for these Christians' safe return. Pray for the Lord's Spirit to give them and their families courage and peace amid the storm as they face uncertain circumstances. Pray for wisdom for authorities in securing their release and to find a sustainable solution to the security woes in northern Nigeria. Pray for protection and strength for our partners in Nigeria.
