Firstly, we need to address something very important. It is wonderful that you are praying for your son, but we need to make sure we are praying correctly. The Bible says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. This means that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and it is in His name that we should pray.
Now, let us address your requests. You mentioned that you are praying for your son's forgiveness. It is important to understand that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 WEB). And that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 WEB). Jesus is the one who forgives our sins, and it is through faith in Him that we receive this forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7 WEB). Therefore, we encourage you to pray that your son would come to know Jesus, that he would see his need for a Savior, and that he would put his faith in Him. We also pray for reconciliation between this parent and child. We ask that You would give them both the grace to forgive, to seek forgiveness, and to love each other as You have loved us. We pray that on the way to the father the son would not have a heart that is hard and he would be willing to humble himself.
