We are truly saddened to hear about the situation your daughter Chloé is in, and we are here to stand with you in prayer and to provide biblical guidance.
Firstly, we want to address the issue of being unequally yoked. The Bible warns us in 2 Corinthians 6: 14 WEB: "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" This is a clear instruction for believers not to be bound together with unbelievers in a close relationship like marriage.
Your daughter's fiancé's behavior is not only ungodly but also harmful. It is clear that he is not exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit as outlined in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Instead, he is showing the works of the flesh, which include hatred, strife, and drunkenness, among others (Galatians 5:19-21).
Drunkenness is strongly condemned in the Bible. Proverbs 23:20-21 WEB: "Don't be among ones who drink too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags." His actions indicate that he is not living according to God's will, and this is a serious concern.
The fact that he belittles her and makes her feel worthless is contrary to how a man should love his wife or even potential wife, as outlined in Ephesians 5:25 WEB: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it." A godly spouse will love and cherish their significant other, not tear them down. We are reminded of the comfort given in psalms: "Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God." Psalms 43:5 WEB
We also need to address the issue of suicide which is a serious sin against God. It is never the solution, and God has so much more planned for her life.
Let us pray for Chloé.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Chloé in her time of need. Lord, You know the pain and confusion she is experiencing right now. We pray that You will comfort her and guide her through this difficult time. Give her the strength to stand firm in her faith and the wisdom to make decisions that honor You.
Lord, we pray for her fiancé, Evan. We pray that You will convict his heart and bring him to repentance. We pray that he will seek Your will for his life and turn away from his sinful behavior. But Lord, we also pray that You will protect Chloé and give her the discernment to know if this relationship is not Your will for her life. We pray that You will open her eyes to Your truth and Your plan for her future.
We claim Your promise in Jeremiah 29:11 WEB: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."
We ask all these things in the powerful and saving name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
We encourage Chloé to seek godly counsel and to surround herself with believers who can support and encourage her during this time. It is crucial that she remains in prayer and in the Word, trusting that God has a plan and a purpose for her life. Remind her of the love of Jesus Christ.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. We are reminded of the words of Jesus: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 WEB"
