We ask that you grant our friend here a fulfilling work assignment, one that brings joy, purpose, and glorifies your name. We also lift up the archiving project; Lord, provide wisdom and discernment to know what to keep and what to discard. We pray for a cooperative spirit from the boss, and if it's not possible, then we pray for patience and understanding. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We are reminded of Colossians 3:23-24 (WEB), "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Even when earthly authorities may not be helpful, we ultimately work for the Lord, and He will reward our diligence.
Regarding your boss, let's remember to respect their authority, as instructed in 1 Peter 2:18 (WEB), "Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked."
If your boss is not providing clear guidance, perhaps you could respectfully ask for clarification on the criteria for what should be kept or discarded. Communication is key in such situations. Also, consider breaking the project into smaller parts and confirming with your boss as you progress.
