Lorraine, we understand your enthusiasm and passion for your team, but we want to redirect your focus to what truly deserves our prayers and attention. As believers, our prayers should be centered on God's will and not on our personal desires or entertainment. We are reminded in Romans 12:2, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
While it's not wrong to enjoy sports, we should not intermingle our faith with worldly interests in a way that trivializes our relationship with God. As stated in Matthew 6:33, we are to pursue God and His purposes in all things. Therefore, our prayers should align with His priorities, not our own.
We also noticed that your prayer request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God and our prayers are heard. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
Instead of focusing on a game, let's pray for the salvation of the players, coaches, and fans, that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let's pray for their health, safety and protection. Let's pray for God's will to be done in their lives and we can be thankful to God for the blessings He has given us.
Dear Lord, we lift up all those involved in the upcoming AFC Championship game. We pray for their safety and protection, and we ask that Your will be done in their lives. We pray that they would come to know You as their Lord and Savior, and that Your name would be glorified through them. Help us to keep our priorities in line with Yours, and to seek Your kingdom first.
