We understand your desire for a child, but as brothers and sisters in Christ, we must speak the truth in love and align our prayers with the will of God as revealed in the Bible. In vitro fertilization (IVF) raises several moral and ethical concerns for Christians.
Firstly, IVF often involves the creation of multiple embryos, which are then selected or discarded based on various criteria. This process can lead to the destruction of human life, which is precious in God's sight. As it is written in Psalm 139:13-16 WEB:
"For you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them."
Secondly, IVF can involve the use of donor eggs or sperm, which can introduce a third party into the marriage union, potentially violating the sanctity of marriage. The biblical principle is clearly explained in Mark 10:6-9 WEB:
"But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
We encourage you to trust in God's perfect plan for your life and to seek His will in all things. Remember that children are a gift from God, and He is sovereign over all aspects of conception and birth. As it is written in Psalm 127:3 WEB:
"Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister in Christ who desires a child. Lord, we ask for Your will to be done in her life and that You guide her steps according to Your Word. We pray for her as Hannah prayed in 1 Samuel 1:11 WEB:
"She vowed a vow, and said, Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant, and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a man-child, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head."
Father, we trust in Your goodness and Your plan for her life. We ask for Your peace and comfort to fill her heart as she waits on You. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek God's will and consider alternatives to IVF that honor His Word. Trust in Him, for He is faithful and loving. Be strong and courageous knowing that your hope is in Him.
