It all happened because too many people were coming to know Jesus
Local officials entered Lien's church in mid May this year and confiscated Bibles and every piece of Christian training material they found. They also wrote down the name of each church member, then visited every one of them at their homes to forbid them from going to church.
Officials arrested and detained Lien. They forced him to write a "commitement paper" saying he would stop preaching or engaging in other pastoral activities. They now visit his home every day to monitor him.
Since his arrest, Lien's family no longer receives the government help every poor family in Vietnam is suppossed to get - things like free school for his two children, farming support or rice to eat. He and his family have also been stripped of their annual stipend for protecting the forest. Their income has vanished - simply for sharing the gospel.
COVID-19 restrictions have limited movement, and Lien cannot go out to work, amplifying their perilous situation.
Open Doors local partners are coordinating on how best to help.
Lien asks us to pray with him for his family and his church.
Pray for provision for Pastor Lien's family and his church members' families in this difficult time.
Pray God will protect these believers from harm and will stop the future plans of the enemy, Pray they will hold on to their faith despite intense persecution.
Pray also for Lien's persecutors. Pray God will transform them and that they will be more compassionate towards Christians.
Thanks so much for praying. From a text from Open Doors USA.
