In places, where Christians are targeted for their faith, following Jesus can mean daily pressure - and uncomfortable reminders that you are a second-class citizen. Vietnam is one place where Christians are treated unfairly simply because of their faith.
In June 2021, the local government of a province in Vietnam issued a policy to provide water tanks to families in the region. Since the area is mountainous and rocky, digging wells is difficult; rainwater is the main source of water for residents, but storing it is hard. The government provided each family with about $450 to build a tank.
But six families whoae Christians were specifically excluded from receiving the funds for water tanks - just because they follow Christ.
A pastor in the area said the local authorities told these believers - "you are Christians. We have no responsibility toward you. Go and ask your church for help. If you want to receive the aid, return to our culture and worship our ancestors again. If you won't then do not expect to receive anything."
The families involved are all poor and struggle to put food on the table. The cost of the tanks is far beyond their means. As a result, when the dry season comes, they will have to walk 6 hours to fetch water from a river.
Please pray that God will open doors to enable these families to have their own water tanks for their daily needs.
Ask God to surround them with His peace as they await His move on their behalf to meet this critucal need
Pray the testimony of these families will shine in their community, as those around them see that God does, indeed, take care of His own.
