Friends, we've had a call for urgent prayer from India. A group of extremists have planned two massive demonstrations against Christians in the next two days, and your sisters and brothers in India are asking you to join them in asking God for help and protection.
Mass protests against Christians have been breaking out across India for months. The Hindu extremist groups who organize them are accusing Christians of converting people against their will. On September 5, a church in Purani Basti, Raipur, was interrupted by a group of 60 extremists. The pastor, Harish Sahu, and other believers were taken to the police station, where their accusers beat them with shoes in the chamber of the Town Inspector. Two of the extremists were arrested as a result of this incident, and this has triggered larger and more frequent protests.
Thus far, the government has sided with the Christians, and the extremists have planned a demonstration in which the protestors let themselves be arrested in order to fill the jails and cause difficulties for the authorities. At least `100 extremists plan to be arrested tomorrow, September 17, as part of their efforts.
On September 18, the radicals have called for rallies in 70 administrative divisions of the city, targeting government offices. The extremists demand that officials stop shielding evangelism, and take strict actions against Christians. It is entirely possible such rallies can tip from peaceful to violent, and Christians are at high risk during this time.
Please pray with your brothers and sisters in India right now.
.pRAY for their safety amind these protests, and that God will supernaturally protect them from harm.
Ask God to help the officials to stand up to the protestors and continue to recognise that there is no coercion involved in people deciding to follow Jesus.
Pray for God to give Christians in India boldness to stand for their faith, and wisdom in the face of these threats to their personal safety and freedom.
Pray for the Hindu extremists, that they would see their Christian countrymen as fellow Indians, and see the love of Christ shinning through.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. From an Open Doors USA text alert.
