Nothing struck the visiting pastor as unusual when he arrived at Sameera's house. He enjoyed a meal with the family, prayed with them and stepped out of the house....to find a mob led by a Buddhist monk waiting for him.
"This is a Buddhist village," the monk said. "Don't come back!"
Sameera spoke up: "These people came to my house. You have no right to object to that," he said. And when the mob reminded Sameera he was born a Buddhist, he could not hold back his testimony.
"Yes I was born Buddhist. But I used to be a drug dealer. I used to lie, steal, kill animals. None of you helped me or showed me the correct path. But this pastor did. My life changed because of my God."
The mob was silent. Slowly, they began to disperse, but turned toward the home of Sameera's aunt, also a believer. Sameera, his family and the ministry workers moved towards them. And in the darkness, blows began to rain down.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. In retaliation, the mob turned off Sameera's water and electricity. When Open Doors field partners visited him the next day, he shared, "Even if those problems are not resolved, I will still hold on to my faith," he said. "Even if the whole village - no, the whole world - stands against me, I will still believe in God."
Sameera and his family would be so grateful for your prayers at this time.
Please pray for protection for Sameera, his wife and their 9 year old child - that they would continue to find strength in God.
Sameera prays that "all these people who oppose us will come to experience Christ." Pray with him that more villagers, including his relatives, will come to know Jesus.
Pray for Sameera's pastor and his ministry. He is serving the Lord in several different areas and leads house churches.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
