Open Doors partners get to minister to so many believers on the field who are trying to maintain their faith in the midst of persecution and pain. Shova is a Christian woman in Nepal who benefited from our prayer support after experiencing tragedy. She was born a Hindu, but when she heard about Jesus, she wanted to become a believer. Something stood in the way of her dream, however, her husband, who didn't want her to become a Christian.
Shova's husband had a heavy drinking habit, making him very ill. When medicine stopped working, her husband, as a last resort, agreed to go to church with her to receive prayer. And during these visits to church, he was healed of his sickness and stopped drinking!
Even better, they both begun to follow Christ.
Thank God for the innovative ways He draws even the reluctant to His side. Lift up this church, that they would continue to be a light to those trapped in darkness and that they would continue to draw others to Jesus.
Sadly, after a few years, Shova's husband began to drink again, and it led to his death. Both her village and her family blamed the couple's faith for his death, and Shova was alienated and isolated from her community. They demanded her sons conduct his funeral rites according to Hindu customs - but Shova would not permit it.
She left the village, because of their criticism, but refused to leave her Lord.
"Everyone dies sooner or later; I am not leaving Christ because my husband died. I have difficulties in my life, but God has given me satisfaction and joy. I've got salvation. I will never leave my faith," she said.
Lift up our sister Shova, asking God to substain and build her faith, and guide her steps as she seeks to follow Him for the rest of her life.
She was thankful for the encouragement and prayer support of Open Doors partners but worries about her children walking the path of Christ.
Ask God to draw Shova's children to Himself as they watch their mother's faithful life. Pray He will open a way for a church to be established in her new village where she and others can worship and serve.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
