"The Myanmar army is destabilizing the country, hitting people and the property of churches, killing unarmed and peaceful civilians and burning villages and houses," a Christian from Thantlang told Fides after the army occupied and destroyed his church. "we are really bewildered."
on the night of September 14, his church in Myanmar's western Chin state was hit by military artillery. While the building was damaged, no casualties were reported. The attack appears to be retaliation for an earlier attack on a military outpost by local resistance groups in which 12 soldiers were killed.
The violence forced more than 1,800 people to find refuge in neighboring villages and across the border in India according to aid groups quoted by UCAN. Since February , at least 1,105 people have been killed in urban areas, with more than 6,500 arrested and approximately 176,000 people have been displaced within the country.
Please lift prayerful hands with our family in Myanmar in the face of this ongoing violence.
Pray for the violence to stop, and for more freedom to spread so that people can worship freely and without threat.
Ask God to put His Hand of protection over the churches and the believers in Myanmar, and shelter them under His wings.
Pray for both army and rebel leaders, that they would have a regard for human lives, and especially that the government would recognize the rights and value of each person.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from an Open Doors USA text alert.
