Lucio and Rufina Jimenez's family in the state of Hidalgo includes 12 people - from a 90 year old mother don to a baby due to be born any time. Last year, the family refused to participate in local religious customs because they follow Jesus. And that's when the trouble began.
A few months ago, Rufina was alone at home with her youngest children, 5 year old twins, when authorities led a mob to the house and demanded the family leave within two hours. Rufina hid the children in a back room.
According to a news report, the mob "broke into the house, throwing the family's possessions out. They took everything: furniture, clothes, beds and a computer. All were left strewn in the street like garbage. They did it so that other residents would realize what could happen to them if they were to decide to convert to a different religion."
Though they've tried to file a formal complaint, the couple say they trust the solution to their case will come from God instead. They are confident they will return to their hometown and have decided to forgive those who persecuted them.
"We want to give a testimony so that people can see we truly have a living God on our side," Ruben, one of Lucio's sons, told Open Doors.
Please pray with this family as they cling to their faith and their father.
Thank God none of the family members were hurt in the attack. Also, give thanks that local partners have provided resources for legal assistance and basic needs.
Pray for Lucio and Rufina and their family to stand strong in their determination to forgive their attackers and be faithful witnesses.
Pray for a speedy resolution to the eviction - and for their community to see the strength the Lord gives the family as they wait on Him.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
