In April 2021, Laos went on nationwide lockdown after the Delta variant of COVID-19 was detected in the country. Traveling between districts was prohibited and social gatherings were limited to 10 people.
Bongyang and Faxai , a Christian Hmong couple in their 40's, asked permission from a registered church leader to hold a small worship service in his home. The leader agreed. Following all the safety protocols set by the government, Bongyang conducted the service.
A few days later, both Bongyang and Faxai were arrested for disobeying COVID protocols. Their 7 year old son was left behind. Villagers said Bongbong was badly beaten by the authorities before he and his wife were sent to prison. No-one was allowed to visit except for Bongyang mother, who brought them food.
Faxai, a Vietnamese immigrant, was sent back to Vietnam since she could not present any legal documents allowing her to stay in Laos. An Open Doors local contact said: - "Bongbong was transfered to the provincial jail where his mother can no longer visit due to the distance. Some Hmong believers in the area began to visit and bring him food regulary. There have been no developments in his case.
Our Open Doors local partner said. - "Bongbong son is now with his grandmother. We are helping Bongbong discreetly. Bongbong is only fed rice and water. We are trying to locate Faxai, but don't have a concrete lead yet."
Please join us in prayer for Bongbong and Faxai in their time of trial and need.
Pray that Bongbong will soon be released, and that he will find peace and rest in God alone during this seemingly hopeless situation. Pray for the strengthening of his faith.
Pray for Faxai, that she will be able to get in touch with her son and husband. Pray also for peace and comfort for her, that she will stand strong in her faith and that she will get through this trial.
Thank God for the people who are moved to help Bongbong be reunited with his family. Pray for provision, protection, and peace for them. May they discern the will of the Lord.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
