In both Iraq and Syria, Christians live and practice their faith in secret for fear of being killed, especially those from a Muslim background. Open church services, conferences and camps are all forbidden without approval - and evangelicals never receive it.
Please pray for equal treatment of Christians, and for persecution of the Church in Iraq and Syria to stop.
Syria's Bashar al-Assad was recently elected for the fourth time. He's promised a bright, new future. But there are many challenges facing the country, from electricity woes (it is only on 1 hour out of 6) to dishearted youth after a decade of war.
Please pray for the rebuilding of Syria and strengthening of the Syrian church.
Many Christians are unem.ployed due to their faith. Wael, 38, was fired from his job."When the management changed in the company, all my Christian colleagues and I were fired, and Muslims were put in our places,", he said.
Please pray for the believers who are struggling to find or hold jobs, and ask God to grant them special protection.
Amid the chaos, bright spots do appear. The Centre of Hope in Latakia, run by Open Doors partners, reaches 220 children from 8 to 15. They are expanding the center to include vocational training for women and skills courses for college students. They charity kitchen in Marmarita-Homs feeds a 120 poor elderly people three times a week.
Thank God for these examples of Christian work in Syria. Pray they have a positive impact on all who see.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from an Open Doors USA text alert. I also think we should pray for these courageous Christians that the Holy Spirit guides them and strengthen and ecourage them to know when it is ok to hide their faith and when they must not deny it. This is because I read in the Bible that we are not allowed to deny Christ or else He will deny us before the Holy Angels and His Father on the day of judgement. Also there are lots of lost catholics in Iraq and Syria - please pray God awakens them from this deception. Thanks.
