As Hamed Ashouri left his home on FEbuarary the 23, 2019, agents of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence arrested him. They searched his home and confiscated all the Christian items they found there, including Bibles and other Christian books, and computer hard drives.
Thus began a two and a half year process that has now ended with Ashouri in jail for his faith.
When he was arrested, Ashouri was interrogated and held in solitary confinement for 10 days. During this time he was offered a monthly salary if he would become an informant against other Christians. He refused.
Ashouri and another family member were forced to attend "re-education" sessions with an Islamic cleric, but stopped going after four sessions. His lack of "cooperation" set the judicial process in motion again. COVID-19 measures delayed his sentencing, but he has now been summoned to prison to serve 10 months.
Before surrendering himself to the prison on July 27, Ashouri (now 31) made a short video in which he said he had been arrested for his Christian activities. "I thank God for considering me worthy of enduring this persecution because of Him," he said.
Please pray for our dear brother Hamed Ashouri as he endures Iranian prison.
Ask God to make Ashouri's faith a glowing beacon throughout Karaj Central Prison to others who need the Lord.
Pray for Ashouri's physical health and protection, as Iranian prisons are notorious for the abuse suffered by prisoners especially political ones.
Pray Ashouri's persecution will serve to rally the Christian community in Iran, and that his suffering will result in glory to God.
Thank you so much for joining in prayer for our persecuted brother. From a text alert from Open Doors USA.
