We're all weary of COVID-19 - the pandemic has caused so much pain and suffering for so many people. Every nation has been affected by the virus.
But as we see restrictions loosening and case and death tolls dropping, we must remember this isn't the case in many places where Christians are targeted for their faith. In places like India, this pandemic has been devastating for Christians.
In India, many Christians are poor migrant workers, and have no way to secure local identification. This creates complications when they try to access government benefits like food and medical aid. Many Christian families were infected with COVID-19, and many lost family members who were the main earners. As cases skyrocketed in the last few months, the situation has been increasingly dire.
Several Christian organisations that would normally help have been closed down, due to false allegations of forced conversion. This makes assisting Christians in India even more complicated.
We've also heard many Christian health care workers are battling depression. In some Christian hospitals, doctors and nurses have committed suicide because of what they have had to witness in this crisis. The hospital system in India was ill-equipped to handle the spike in cases, and it led to a massive death rate that will deeply impact the nation for years to come.
Thankfully we serve a God of hope - and you can help your Indian brothers and sisters in Christ by standing with them in fervent prayer.
Pray for the sick people who are still fighting COVID-19. we receive prayer requests daily from Christians who are affected.
Pray for the Open Doors partners who are trying to provide help to the persecuted Christians despite the pandemic. Pray they are not falsely accused of converting people, and that they will be able to work freely.
Ask God to strengthen the hearts and spirits of Christians in India as they face this medical, emotional and economic crisis, that they are an example to those around them of the love of Jesus.
Lift up the Christian leaders and church partners who are working to help others. Pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones, and ask God to provide for their needs.
Thank you so much for praying for our persecuted family, God bless. Information and prayers from a text alert from Open Doors USA.
