"The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it" (John 1.5) Our brother Ram, in India, is a testament to this powerful scripture, Time and time again, Ram thought all hope was lost until Jesus made a way where they seemed to be none at all.
You see, Ram's family was disappointed when he became a Christian and left their ancestral religion. But when his mother fell ill, and he prayed for her healing, her return to health brought the whole family to Jesus!
Together, they started a church in a neighbouring village, but unfortunately, it was not well received by residents. The villagers raised a false alarm that the church was being attacked, and when Ram arrived, they beat him mercilessly. Seeing their son bloody and bruised was almost too much for the family's faith,
"Though I was in shock, I saw my family was terrified and on the verge of leaving Christ. I assured them my faith in God is unshakeable and unfathomable. When I was being beaten, I could feel the power of God in me the most."
The perpetrators were not arrested, and the church was closed down. "That was like a thorn in my flesh, reminding me to be dependant on God. In weakness, His strength was made perfect," declares Ram.
Left without a means of support, the family was destitute. Open Doors partners helped Ram set up a small grocery store in his house and supported the family through prayers and seminars.
"I was overwhelmed when I received your support," Ram said, "Having no income or job was my lowest point. I was unable to see a way out. I assumed I had failed Christ and He turned His face from me. But God proved His sovereignty by your help and encouragement. I can boldly profess that when I am weak, then I am strong. Christ's power is made perfect in my life."
Lord please lead Ram's family as they seek to start a new church and minister to the unreached. Continue to strengthen the faith of this family and reveal Your great love to them. Lord Jesus provide more than they can ask or imagine as they follow where You lead. Encourage other Indian pastors who are experiencing the same troubles. We ask that their faith will not fail them as they continue to trust in You.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
