Over the last few months, we've shared multiple reports about the escalating violence against Christians in India, especially believers in Chattisgarh State. Today we have a report of hope and triumph from our Indian sisters and brothers.
In a series of outrageous street attacks, Christian converts have been attacked and told to renounce their faith and return to Hinduism. While some have crumbled in the face of imminent personal violence, other new believers have stood firm in their faith.
But now, believers in Chattisgarh have taken to the streets themselves - not to protest or to riot, but to worship. A huge crowd of more than 300 people gathered on the street and begun to sing gospel songs and shout praises to God.
"If our churches are attacked, we will take to the street to worship," protest leaders said. "This is just the start of our protest. If no action is taken by the government authorities against the attacks and torture toward towards the Christian community, we will come out in larger numbers and it will be nationwide."
They continued, saying, "Our patience has been tested, our limits have been exceeded. Our constitution gives us freedom of religion. These attacks and threats deprive us of our rights. This inhuman behaviour has to stop, and the government has to take the rightful action."
Please join with these believers in India as they lead with grace and respond to those who would silence them and take away their right to worship freely.
Praise God for this extraordinary event and it's potential impact on those who feel violence is justified against Christians. Pray they come to faith in Jesus themselves.
Pray for Indian Christian leaders as they help their congregations find non-violent, Jesus-honouring ways to voice their opinions and demand their equal religious rights.
Lift up India's government, that it may enforce the Constitution properly and bring these frequent attacks on Christians to a swift end.
Thanks so much for praying , God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert. I am also praying for those whose faith crumbled at the threat of violence. It must have been so scary for them, especially for the new Christians who are not firm in their faith. Im praying that Jesus forgives them and gives them another chance, like He did when Peter denied Him 3 times.
