In India, lies about Christians are constantly spread by extremists, and Christians have faced increasing levels of persecution at the hands of those who have been deceived. Yet God is there in the midst of the trouble. Our sister Vinita is a shining example of the way the Lord brings help to those in need.
Vinita and her husband have a 1 year old baby girl. When the family came to Jesus, their community reacted with constant harassment.
"I tried to share the gospel many times, but they did not listen," said Vinita. "they spoke badly to me, saying, you are worshiping a foreign God instead of our gods and goddesses."
One day as Vinita was praying in her home with her pastor and his family, Hindu extremists barged in and began to attack them with metal rods.
They threw Vinita's baby to the ground.
Thankfully, the child survived with just scratches on her legs, but Vinita and the others were more seriously injured. The pastor's wife, Preetha, was beaten until she was unconscious and nearly had half her hand cut off.
When they arrived at the government hospital, the medical staff refused to treat them because of pressure from the Hindu extremists.
Your prayers and support enabled Open Doors local partners to take them to a private hospital and pray for their treatment. Your support is also providing advocacy support as they file a case against their attackers. Rather than strike back, the family is empowered to combat the persecution with grace and within the law.
Despite the horrific COVID-19 pandemic, shocking persecution against Christians continues in India. We are on a mission to make the violence unthinkable.
Vinita has asked for your prayers for her daughter and family. "Pray we may be safe. We live in fear they might do something to us, as they still threaten us."
Ask God to put His mighty hand over the believers in India and protect them from violent attacks by extremists.
Pray for open hearts throughout India, that a mighty wind of faith in Christ might sweep this country that has the second largest population in the world.
Thank you so much for praying. From a text alert from Open Doors USA.
