Our brothers and sisters in India have asked for urgent prayer. A Hindu religious teacher has called for the beheading of Christian converts during another mass rally against forced conversions in India's central Chhattisgarh State. "Behead them - those who come for conversion," Swami Parmatmanand reportedly told his audience. "It's important to ignite the fire sometimes. I am telling you; anyone who comes into your house, street, neigbourhood , village don't forgive them.
Parmatmanand is a prominent leader in the Hindutva movement, which is made up of several far-right Hindu nationalist groups that promote the idea of India based on Hindu values - and India where there is no room for religous minorities.
"The way they spread the message of hatred through these rallies and protests is unbelievable," a local Christian told Open Doors. "They are shouting slogans like 'beat these Christians with shoes', Stop conversion to Christianity, Save your country,' and Save your religion'. They also shout abusive words and Christians in these states are living in fear and under constant pressure from their communities."
Please pray with the believers in India who live under the threat of violence due to this rhetoric.
Pray for influential leaders to back away from calling for violence in order to keep people from following Jesus. Ask God to open their hearts to the truth.
Lift up the believers who live in daily fear their neighbours and families will turn on them because they choose to peacefully follow the Lord.
Ask God to calm the storm of hatred that has been whipped up by various groups in India, so there is an opportunity for people to worship as they wish.
