"In every difficulty and uncertainty, God has been a constant help and placed encouragers in my life, proving He never leaves His children or forsake them when storms arise in life, " Ravi says.
That might just seem like a nice sentiment - but Ravi and his wife have been tested repeatedly as they follow Jesus in India. They've been expelled from their home and community more than once, and the COVID-19 pandemic nearly devastated them.
And yet, God has been faithful.
When the elderly couple's daughter planned to get married, they had no idea how they would pay for the wedding. Their family did not come forward to help. As Ravi prayed for God to do a miracle, his church family came alongside and helped.
The next "storm of life" came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ravi couldn't afford to feed himself and his wife. His daughter's wedding left him without savings and Ravi was afraid, not knowing how they would survive.
"I was worried to death about providing a meal for my wife, it was a testing time for both of us," he says. "I cried out to the Lord to be our provider and was reminded of the verse from Psalm 118 that says, It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. I believed and held on to that verse while i tried to look for available jobs."
Open Doors partners heard about the family's situation. They got in touch, and thanks to the partners supported through your gifts, he was able to open a store that allows him to earn a living and provide for the needs of his family.
"To God be all the glory," he says. "Not only am I able to earn a living, I am also able to testify to my relatives and neighbours. As and when appropriate, I share my testimony and talk about the love God has for me with my customers. God has substained us, even in our old age. While our strength was failing, He kept renewing us."
Thank God for His faithfulness and provision for Ravi and his wife.
Pray the love and hope of Christ would be evident to all who come in contact with Ravi.
Ask God to continue to bless Ravi and his wife with a peaceful life, particularly as India continues to be hit hard by COVID-19.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Information from Open Doors USA text alert.
