Friends, our Open Doors partners have alerted us that Christmas will be a very difficult time for Christians in certain regions of India where hostility towards the gospel continues to intensify.
All year, we've reported on increasing demonstrations and violence as Hindu extremists demand a halt to anyone converting away from their religion - especially to Christianity. The new emphasis focuses on carrying out forced reconversions of believers.
Hindu leaders call it 'Gharwapsi,', and it means 'to return home'. In a special worship ritual, families are forced to recite prayers to Hindu gods and turn away from Jesus. They also declare they made a mistake by becoming Christian.
One Indian ethnic group claims to have reconverted five families. Media inside the country report that 231 Christians returned to Hinduism in 2021.
Please pray with our brothers and sisters in India as they seek to celebrate Jesus' birth amid great hostility.
Pray for a peaceful Christmas season in India. Ask God to foil any plans of the enemy and turn them to good instead. (Gen 50.20)
Lift up new believers as they encounter their first real tests of faith when confronted by 'reconversionists.' Ask God to still their hearts and give them the words to say at the moment they need them.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to fall on India and squelch the smoldering fires of anger towards believers. Ask God to use these trials in ways we can't fathom.
Thanks so much for praying according to the command in the Holy Bible from Hebrews 13.3 and other verses. May Elohim reward you for your faithfulness in this life and more importanly in the world soon to come. Please also pray that Christians stand bold and steadfast in the faith, that the Holy Spirit bless them with wisdom and guidance, faith, courage and strength to know when it is ok to hide their faith and when they must definetely not deny it. It is such a hard choice for them to make but we know that the Bible says believers have to deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow Jesus else we are not worthy of Him and cannot have eternal life. We have to be prepared to do anything for Him I feel like such a hypocrite writing that because I still can't give up smoking even though Jesus got me of heroin and other drugs I disgustingly still smoke. I am just thinking along the lines of Matthew 10.33 - But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven. Pray for mercy and forgiveness for those who are not yet strong enough to stand it must be very frightening for them. Pray that they can be forgiven like Peter was forgiven after denying Jesus 3 times.
