Tribal believers in India need our support and prayer right now. On May 5, about 5,000 people gathered for an anti-Christian, political/religious rally in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh, India. Religious leaders and activists used their platform to spread hate-speech against our brothers and sisters, inciting further attacks and abuse.
In 2021, violent persecution in India rose to historical proportions. This rally is a sign that our family in India is in the middle of an intense battle that they simply cannot fight alone. They need to know that the church worldwide is standing with them!
The intention of the rally was to amend the Indian constitution and denounce Indians who had converted from their native religion. This could have serious consequences for believers who depend on tribal benefits.
The method of harassment is to deny Christians (or Muslims, for that matter) who have converted from their original Hindu faith. Their wish is that believers be "de-listed" from their area social services so they can no longer receive government benefits or make use of government facilities and services. They are also encouraging that Christians be boycotted socially and forced from their communities.
Rallies are being organized in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, as well - all in central India. The middle of the continent has been in the forefront of attacks on Christians over the past 18 months, with hundreds of people threatened and attacked for being believers in Jesus. The Jan Jati Suraksha Manch (Tribal Protection Committee), which organized the rally, are right-wing Hindus that seek to spread hatred of the Christian community.
Continue to lift up the lives and faith of your Indian brothers and sisters as they endure these threats.
Lord, we ask for the protection of our brothers and sisters in Central India. We plead for justice to be done - that your children will not be restricted from the government benefits they need to survive. Strengthen the faith of your children in remote villages as they endure persecution. Help them to feel your loving presence.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
